COLONY ON A DIME

2022

Taking his knowledge and personality as an architectural engineer for AECOM, Stantec, and NASA, Chet Andreyko made a household name for himself in pioneering the construction of Earth's first off-world settlement on Mars.

And now, as the host of HGTV's "Colony on a Dime", Andreyko, alongside his crew, renovate and outfit units while guiding colonizer hopefuls towards the home of their dreams amongst the stars.

Sadly, "Colony on a Dime" was abruptly cancelled after its second season due to the habitat's catastrophic failure in the wake of a tragic and unforeseeable collapse of its proprietary energy and temperature control system - known as "SpLORT".

My thoughts and prayers go out to all whose lives were lost, including Chet and several cherished colleagues from the network.

WRECKAGE.jpeg

THE WRECK AGE

2019

The years have passed, but not too many. Rapid urban expansion led to cities becoming interconnected by a new infrastructure system called the Interway. Towering high above the Lowroads below, the Interway acts as both a pathway between affluent urban pockets & a physical divide between the working-class population on the ground. Those above have erected enormous mechanical gods at the center of their cities, which communicate to them via constant low electric hums—subconscious orders to increase productivity. These advancements in industry have accelerated unchecked, consequently leaving much of the lower world toxic, uninhabitable. “Stragglers,” as those on the ground are referred to by the wealthy, have turned away from their miserable realities in favor of HACK—a communal hallucinogenic experience brought on by listening to chips infused with frequencies designed to scramble the mind. Those talented enough to create these chips are known as Saints; the device used to play them called Oracles. Life continued on in this way for some years. But that was before the Reclaiming…
Nature had become animated—violently & indiscriminately overgrowing the new urban areas, reclaiming itself & anyone unfortunate enough to be caught in the way. In a desperate attempt to fend off the approach of the Arbres, as the animated trees were called, humans of both worlds, above & below, established Machine Factions to combat the Reclaiming. Mankind succeeded in scarring the earth back into submission, but at a high cost. Now, in this new age, everyone is equalized, living among the wreckage of their destroyed urban complexes.

Sandomir

2018

500 years after rising tides have left what little land remains arid and hostile to life, the last of humanity clings to its ark Jøm. Once an egalitarian community, Jøm’s class structure is now starkly divided between the bottom-dwelling Bîlos, the hedonist Gests, and a small council of Navigators who rarely are seen outside the bridge.

Ta-Rek and Nur, two Bîlos from the engine works, find themselves trapped in a restricted part of the ship as a glitch in its GPS sets Jøm on a course towards the center of a violent storm. In the ensuing tumult, the pair are thrown from the ship and they struggle to stay adrift in an ocean they’ve never before touched.

When Ta-rek awakes, it is on the shore of a strange island and the only trace of a Nur is a cryptic diagram drawn in the sand. Strange figures emerge from the heat shimmer and reveal themselves to be the android inhabitants of the fabled artificial island of Sandomir. Thinking these hosts will bring her closer to finding Nur, Ta-rek finds herself the only human inhabitant of a eerie sprawling metropolis intended for human resettlement. Though her treatment on Sandomir is favorable compared to the dark and cramped quarters on the ship, something has come undone, and she begins to suspect that all is not well on the island. A chance encounter with two Gests also cast off in the storm - the nearly identical Zigi and Îno - confirm her suspicions: Each night, more and more androids have been vanishing down into the dark heart of the island. Could this be where Nur has gone?

As the Jøm looms on the horizon in an answer to înos distress call, Ta-rek must leap blind into depths of Sandomir to find her friend and to find answers.

Zeke finds himself plagued with sudden unrecognizable bouts of extreme sensory turbulence and displaced memories.

Emotia, seemingly doing the exact opposite as advertised, offers nothing but aggressive manic behavior to both Zeke and countless others at the casino.

Newly hired poker dealer Bev may have the cure.
